World Movement for Rights of Children (WMFRC) an initiative of City Montessori School (CMS) with Dr Jagdish Gandhi as its Founder was launched by a book donation camp for the upliftment of the underprivileged children. CMS considers itself as the self appointed custodian of the welfare and rights of world's two billion children and generations yet-to-be born. Right through history, children have been abused and exploited. They suffer from hunger and homelessness, work in harmful conditions, high infant mortality, deficient health care and limited opportunities for basic education. The CMS family is therefore striving to safeguard the rights of world's children and ensure that they are provided a united and safe world and healthy ecology. The School has been running a campaign to build global opinion on this issue by convening a series of international conferences of world judiciary.
Dear Friend,
As the Guinness Record holder for being the world's largest city-school, and as the recipient of the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education 2002, CMS considers itself as the self appointed custodian of the welfare and rights of world's two billion children and generations yet-to-be-born. Right through history, children have been abused and exploited. They suffer from hunger and homelessness, work in harmful conditions, high infant mortality, deficient health care and limited opportunities for basic education.
Exactly 20 years ago, the world made a set of promises to all children when it adopted the UN convention on the Rights of the child (CRC). The CRC is a major milestone in the efforts to achieve a world fit for children. But, while progress has been made on children’s rights in the past 20 years, much remains to be done. One can openly see the violation of these promises every where in the form of child labour, school dropouts, hunger and malnutrition. Like at any other place, one could encounter children working at roadside dhabas and hotels too even though there are government-sponsored programmes for them.
